Better Than Life

I'm sitting in the international terminal waiting for my flight from Thailand to Macau when I get a facebook message from a guy named Will telling me to check out the new video by Duke Dumont which was filmed here in Thailand.

The video is below in this post for you to check out and it's awesome. It's filmed mainly on Phuket, Koh Phi Phi and a few nightlife scenes were filmed in Bangkok. The best thing about it, is that it's all a reality and isn't actually better than life...it's just a different life.

After quickly fixing the subjects for my email list so it doesn't all same the same thing "Welcome to My Blog - Johnny FD" I took a look at the video he mentioned.

I'm not a fan of house music, but I love EDM and I really liked the music video itself.

The crazy thing about this video is even though this is Virtual Reality, it doesn't have to be.

It reminded me of what it was like working my soul crushing corporate job back in the U.S. and daydreaming about dancing on the beach, sipping coconuts and traveling to places like Thailand.

The actual title of the video is "I Got You" but what really stuck out in my mind was the moment he put on the device, it flashed, "BETTER THAN LIFE" and it made me realize...that was me and that is still most people back home.

I don't know which videos of mine reminded Will of the "I got you" video, but just looking at my instagram  page I realized how different my life here is than back in my living room waiting for packages from amazon to arrive to hopefully put a smile on my face that would usually quickly fade.

How to make it a reality:

I wish I could just tell everyone to just quit your job and move. But I know not everyone has the courage or safety net to fall back on like I did. 

When I wrote "12 Weeks in Thailand: The Good Life on the Cheap" I wanted to share what the journey was like going through the mental process of selling all of my stuff and making the move to the unknown.

It took me wayyyy longer to figure out than it'll take you, as now there is so much info out there on how to make it. 

My advice...don't wait for virtual reality to make your life better...save the $1,000 you would have spent buying it on amazon and buy a plane ticket instead.
