My favorite thing about living in Chiang Mai is having access to incredible weekend getaways. Do a search on my blog for "chiang mai" and you'll see waterfalls, infinity pools, trekking, and other ideas of things to do in northern Thailand. This weekend we decided to go check out the four seasons resort in Mae Rim, which is 30 minutes north of the city.
Rooms at the Four Seasons Chiang Mai start at 18,000 baht ($600US) per night and it might be well worth it as the grounds are some of the most beautiful I've seen anywhere.
However, there's a secret on how you can experience the service, food, facilities and beauty of the Four Seasons for 1/10th of the cost. But first, let's take a look at what you get.

"Great food is best served with amazing friends" |
The food was incredible. I didn't get a chance to take photos of everything, but there were three made to order entrees including a baked fish, chicken with berry sauce and the roasted lamb which was my favorite. There was also a pasta station, salad bar and my favorite, which was a egg and bacon quiche station.
We ate for almost three hours while listening to a participant from "Thailand's Got Talent" singing and performing live. Best of all, I was surrounded by great friends. Even better, was when it came time for dessert.

How to afford a $600+ experience.
Here's the secret. Most guests are staying the weekend or longer, paying a minimum of 18,000 baht per night. However every Sunday, both guests and non-guests are welcome to pay for their sunday lunch. The cost is 2,200 baht ($67US) including tax and tip, and includes the use of the pool and facilities. If you asked me a year ago, I thought have thought you were crazy to spend half a month's Thai rent on lunch, but realistically speaking, this is exactly the reason why it is such a good idea to work hard towards making US dollars while living in Thailand.
Back in the U.S. spending $65 for a nice meal is relatively common. Even a normal meal out including tax and tip is $30. Being able to enjoy the same food, live music, surroundings and facilities of guests spending 10x is indeed a great deal. This is how you Travel Like a Boss.
The best thing is, having gotten just one sale from one of my drop shipping stores during lunch, the profits from that sale more than paid for the entire day.

Other facilities at the Four Seasons
We spend the day moving from the lounges and pools to the sauna, steam room and cold plunge baths. They also had a huge jacuzzi that easily fit seven. To complete the spa day, we Larissa and I got a 1 hour swedish couples massage. But instead of paying $100 an hour at the resort.
We opted to save the massage for right before bed at our favorite local place called Miracle Spa. The cost was 500 baht per person ($17US) and the facilities and service is four seasons level for 1/5th of the price. Another way to enjoy traveling like a boss, without breaking the bank.
Travel Tip: Enjoy the facilities at the four seasons, then get your massage near your hotel/apt before bed to sleep like a baby.

Enjoy your time out in Thailand and in Chiang Mai. And keep traveling like a boss. The goal is first to start earning enough where we can afford to do something like this once a month, while working towards building real businesses that will allow us to afford to actually stay the weekend.
I'm reading this! I really love the positive energy you have and sharing this info with others. Thank you, and I will do the same for others.
